Responsibility
K, so if you read my blog within the last few hours, you know what post I'm referring to. If not, all you need to know is that I deleted it because it wasn't exactly supportive of President Obama. No matter how much I may disagree with his policies and actions, he is still the leader of our country and Mitch's Commander in Chief and I need to respect that. I hope we can all rally to respect the office of the president.

D stands for 'Dorable.
What Derek did with Daddy today for his Daddy-Derek date...
Playing with Daddy (notice his legs kicking when he's in the air)
Trying to get him to show us his first tooth

Pictures of our Move from Utah to Del Rio
Since I'm using my blog as an online journal, this is one entry that I'd like to add for the sake of reminiscing. The packers came to pack our stuff up and loaded it into the truck with our furniture two days later. Our apartment looked like this for two days! At least the crib was still put together. :(

An unexpected surprise from the fridge. I don't know how old these tomatoes were...
I wish Derek cuddled like this today. He's getting so independent!

Heath Stuff
By now, most, if not all, of you have heard that Mitch didn't complete Initial Flight Screening for the Air Force. This means he won't be able to be a pilot. He's filling out his reassignment paperwork now and we should have an answer in the next couple weeks... hopefully. His top choice is Intelligence, followed by Space and Missiles, Air Field Operator, Logistics Readiness, and Aircraft Maintenance. It's funny how Heavenly Father's plan works out sometimes... the only place Intelligence does their training is Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX (which is just north of Austin). We'd be even closer to family. :) Another base is Hill AFB in Utah. We still have the opportunity to go overseas with any of the positions we listed, too. That was one thing we were really excited to experience, and it's reassuring that we still have that opportunity.
Mitch's brother Jared is getting married tomorrow! Yay! We're so bummed that we won't be able to make it, but our sister-to-be, Sereen, sent Mitch a tie that matches the other groomsmen as well as a sweet note. I'm so excited to meet her at Christmas-time.
So, twisted as it may seem, I'm excited to move again so soon. :) Call me a glutton for punishment (because the whole moving process is not too fun), but I'm excited to see a new place, a new home, a new circle of friends... and possibly a temple, too! By no means will I forget the friends I've made here though; I still fully intend to keep in touch. :) Del Rio has been good to me. I've also been able to sort through all the junk we accumulated during our time in Provo, haha! Papers, old mail, class assignments... you name it, we probably found it hiding in one of our boxes. I think this next move, we'll have the movers unpack us, too. They can't put anything away, but I would definitely appreciate not having to deal with the boxes. Plus, we can see everything we need to organize, throw away or put up. We might have to get a new crib, though. That stinks. I like the crib we have now, but the packers lost the screws that put the crib together and I have NO idea where/how to get replacement screws.
Mitch had the funniest thing happen to him the other day. We laughed and laughed when he told me about it. Monday is blues day... everyone in the Air Force wears short-sleeve blues. Let me just say, Mitch is hot in blues... super hot. And I have independent confirmation. :) A female Airman walked into a door checking him out. Oh yes... he walked past and she forgot to turn the door handle. My husband is sexy. ;)
We have a washer and dryer! YES!! I feel like such an adult now. Haha... funny how it's the appliances and not the baby that makes me feel older.
Derek's eczema is much much better. I think he just has flare ups when we go to really humid places like Corpus or Montgomery. It's ok though; we've found a great lotion (Aveeno Eczema Treatment) that works wonders. Speaking of Derek, he is demanding my attention right now, so I will leave off writing and possibly post some pictures this afternoon of the house, Mitch, Derek and other random things. :)

Derek is So Cute!

Almost Forgot!
Derek has a tooth!! Finally!! Lower left incisor sprouted up on Friday. Grandma TexAnne was instrumental in introducing or introduced him to:
- lemons
- crackers
- bread
- chocolate pudding
- spaghetti noddles
- the sticky white rice on the outside of sushi
- cantalope
- peaches (ok, I instigated that one)
- and ranch dressing (my fault too)
He has also demonstrated a distaste for green beans, though he loves squash and peas. Nothing matches the face he made when we gave him chicken baby food though. Absolutely disgusted, haha! Maybe we'll hold off on that one for another month.
Ingleside Update
Amy and Valerie came down last week to hang out for a couple days. It was really fun to see them again. Too bad Kelly didn't come, we could've gotten an updated picture with ALL the sisters. Maybe another trip though.
So Thursday rolls around and Amy says they're not coming til Friday. Ok, cool with me. I go to sleep that night and I hear this whisper in my ear, "Hi, we're here. Can I sleep with you?" SHEESH!! I nearly jumped out of my skin! They had decided to surprise us and arrived around 10:30 Thursday night. Not that I mind, but wake me up first before you whisper in my ear! :) We had fun hanging out and my sisters were great with Derek. Hats off to Amy for tending him at night so I could sleep... he's always perfect for you, Amy. ;)
The next morning, Amy comes in just before 8 and wakes me up. "Kadi, there is someone in the front room. They're going through papers or something and they're making loud bumps." Now, my sister (bless her heart) is a very... cautious... person. She peered into the front room from doors on both ends of the "J" shaped room but couldn't see anyone... and she missed the rabbit cage on the floor, complete with rather large rabbit inside. I took three steps before I remembered about that rabbit and started laughing. That will always be a priceless memory. Kind of like the time she came and woke me up just after midnight because there was a mouse in the toilet and she couldn't go to the bathroom. :)
My dad's 2-year-old dog, Max, has grown up into a very large, very handsome German Shepherd. I tried to introduce him to Derek, but he was just too interested in sniffing Derek's face, which was about schnoz-level for him at the time. He was great with Derek though. After a couple tries, Max figured out that I wanted him to lay down and we put Derek next to him. Max sniffed his hair a little and licked his ears, but then laid all the way down and Derek grabbed his fur. Max didn't even flinch. Gosh, I love German Shepherds.
Basically, we just had a relaxing trip. Things were a bit rocky with Denise starting out, but I think we've worked through them. She's been so used to being the only child at home that I think she just felt threatened now that there were two more people in the house. A typical day starts at 0800, getting Denise up and ready for whatever camp she's attending that day. I drop her off and pick her up about three hours later and then we chill at home til the parents get off work. Then we chill some more or go have dinner somewhere.
I'll be heading back to Del Rio on Wednesday and Mitch should be home Friday or Saturday. Let's keep our fingers crossed he doesn't get delayed. He's just so cute... he called me last Thursday and mentioned that this day marked that longest time we'd ever been apart. *sigh* It's nice that he pays attention to that kind of thing. :) Sometimes I only get to talk to him for 10 or 15 minutes while we read scriptures together over the phone at night, but he's never missed a night. Last Saturday, we were pretty much talking or texting through the day. It was so fun! I'm so glad he cares that much.
Sorry, had to gush. :) I think it's funny that he'll probably read this in the next day or two... and there's not a darn thing he can do about what I've written! Hee! Love you honey!
I promise I'll add pics when I figure out where to stick the memory stick... some cute ones of Derek and even a couple pics and video of him christening the new stainless steel sink in Grandpa and Grandma's kitchen with a bath. Squash is pretty messy. :)
