June Compilation

6/3 - I was swapping kids between our house and Liz's and I ended up taking Savanna home around 10:30 pm. As I turned into our neighborhood, I spotted a rat snake crossing the road and swerved to avoid it, but wasn't fast enough. I swung the van around to use the headlights and popped out to see if I could save the snake. I managed to pick it up but it was partially eviscerated and it's exposed entrails wrapped around my arm as I headed back to the car. Savanna was visibly torn between disgust, horror and uncertain admiration, haha. Unfortunately, the best thing for the poor rat snake was a swift death, so I crushed its head in the back yard (after a few failed tries, ugh). When I picked up the body to put in a bag, its body quickly wrapped around my arm - not the normal small post-mortem movements.

6/5 - Heidi loves to use any kind of rectangular item as a phone. Unfortunately, using her brother's battery-powered gear rotor is not a good phone. Tammy and Lanae spent a good amount of time trying to free her hair. I was all ready to chop her hair off but Tammy was distressed at the thought of her pretty hair being cut off. Heidi was lucky that a saturation of hair oil and leave-in conditioner managed to work the gear out.

6/5 -  We were missing Clara, Savanna and Bryce but I found them having an impromptu personal showing of Home on Savanna's tablet while camped on Clara's bed. Smart kids.

6/6 - The kids love to wrestle together! Lanae say that Asher is in wrestle-heaven now with cousins who love to wrestle like he does.

6/6 - Mitchell, David and the kids have loved experimenting with different VR games on David's new console. My personal favorites are Beat Saver, Quivr, and an art game.

6/9 - crazy wind during a thunderstorm. Not a lot of rain but the wind was fun to watch.

6/11 - Chickfila breakfast while adults paint Aunt Amy's new home

6/17 - silly selfies with mom

6/23 - Bounce Off with Bama. The kids love playing games with Tammy!

6/23 - Sunday morning snuggles with Dad

6/24 - The hammock I slept in at girls camp is their new favorite reading spot. Win!

6/25 - Heidi got into white paint and decided to "beautify" Andi and the back door. Andi didn't mind the extra attention but she still doesn't love her baths, haha.

6/29 - The garbage disposal leaked and soaked the wood floor beneath the sink and also the bottom of the trash can cabinet. I think Mitchell enjoyed the demo job. Thankfullly, Mitchell was also able to purchase and install a new garbage disposal. Way to go, babe!

New Foster

We've jumped back feet first into fostering. I still miss Olaf and it's hard to get invested in a new foster dog when I'm still missing him, but I couldn't help but feel sorry for this poor guy when I first saw him. His coat hides how absolutely scrawny he is and he was so confused and hesitant when I put him in the car. He was super dehydrated to boot. I didn't know his name. When I called Tammy to let her know I was headed home, Heidi insisted on grabbing the phone to talk. I said, "Hi, baby," and the dog nearly jumped into my lap as I drove down the highway. He settled down after a few minutes and laid right behind the driver's seat, popping up occasionally to look around and get some ear rubs. He hopped right out of the car and the introduction to Andi, while a little tense at times, went really well. She's still missing Olaf I think, and isn't quite taking a liking to him. I think I like Gus-Gus, Bear or Bernie as names, but we'll see what Carolyn says.

Independence Day Family Get-Together

We had an awesome family get-together today! I love it when all the cousins, aunts and uncles get together to spend time and hang out. Bamaw had a great idea to put two slip-n-slides end to end and the kids LOVED it! Austin made a now-famous layered trifle, Mitchell is becoming a serious grill master and grilled a bunch of chicken legs, hot dogs and an amazing pork loin. I broiled some delicious pineapple with a butter/brown sugar/cinnamon glaze. Ah-mazing! Liz's sister, Rebekah, was in town visiting them and came over to hang out too. It was fun to catch up with her and hear about her recent trip to Houston and San Antonio with Isaac and Katelyn. Such a fun family day!

Hahaha, I thought this was hilarious!

Uncle Austin made two of these!

This was seriously good pork! So moist!

This is seriously so good, oh my word!

Liz and Austin took their youngest kids home to pack and get ready for their early morning departure to Washington tomorrow. We persuaded them to leave Isaac behind while the rest of the adults played the card game "Oh Heck."

Baby Makenzie! Mitchell is especially smitten. She's so calm.

Sweet smiles!
