Fun with Lanae and Logan

Lanae and Logan have been here for almost two weeks while David went to Alabama for some training. We've had so much fun hanging out and watching the boys play nicely together.... SIKE! Well, "Sike" on the playing nicely... we sure have had a lot of fun. Derek was beating up on Logan so much. Usually, Logan would start crying and Lanae and I would say, "DEREK! Leave Logan alone!" Derek would dash around a corner with the guiltiest look on his face and try to do something cute to throw us off the trail. Ha! One time, we watched him take Logan's cup away from him and Lanae, Jeff and I all called him out at once. He jumped (startled), immediately thrust the cup back into Logan's hands and (while clapping his hands) said, "Yay!" Such a stinker! But Logan had some pretty good gotcha-moments, too. Mitchell puts the score so eloquently, "Derek: infinity; Logan: two." So funny. Here are a collection of good moments I caught on camera...

Logan was always happy to be chauffeured around

Happy camper!

Totally a Glamour Shots pose!

I caught him right after he shrugged his shoulders, but it was too cute to pass up.

Roaring at me

Logan was so mad he that he couldn't get on the little trike

So Mom helped him out

All better! Happy boy!

The adorable 6 month old Pepper!

Logan was just too cute playing with the vacuum head

Derek has his moments... here he's helping Logan get on and off the stairs

Wrestling on the couch

See what I mean?

And here is one taken just this morning... I bought big-boy underwear for Derek since we're starting to potty train and this is the first thing he did with it. :)

Baby #2

Had a sonogram today and met my doctor! Love him! Here is baby #2 at 8 weeks 4 days. Due date is October 29th. Sorry for the blurry pics. They aren't the best ultrasound pics, but that's our little bean! :D

This is my favorite picture as well as the clearest. I think I can see eyes, nose and mouth. Head is the large bulge at the top, right arm/hand flipper is bright white.

Odd view

Another little blob picture

Fun Time with Derek

This son of mine is such a ham! He gets into all kinds of funny scrapes and usually manages to weasel himself out with a smile and a jabber or cute trick. Here are some of his funny adventures the past couple weeks...

Derek has started wearing socks on his hands. It's cute.

Derek's first experience with ravioli. Should've taken his shirt off.

This is his laughing face.

What I get when I ask for a funny face...

And another funny face! He was roaring at me. :)

I found this free super soaker online; it's as big as Derek! He loves it and Mitchell can't wait til it's warm enough to take it outside and squirt Derek. ;)

Saint Patrick's Day

St Paddy's Day. The biggest holiday in my family next to Christmas. We're not even Irish; we're Welsh! How's that for a funny? But it doesn't matter who you are, everyone is Irish on St Paddy's Day (even the Welsh and especially the Snyder/Thomison/Bazemore/Davila/Lastovica Clans). We love getting silly and covered in as much green as we can. Aunt Val was kind enough to drive out to McKinney to pick up Derek Friday afternoon and keep him all night. WOO! I had a chance to go out on a Girl's Night with some friends in the ward and Mitchell played Xbox with Austin and some of his friends. We slept in the next morning til sometime between 9 and 10 am!! WOW!! Loved it. Thanks so much to my family for keeping him! Mitchell had his GRE Saturday afternoon, but I drove the van out to Keller for some extra hang out time. I feel great when I'm the one driving, but heaven forbid I'm in the passenger seat! I end up hanging out the window trying not to... well, you get the idea. Mitchell joined us later that afternoon - he feels like he did well on his test which is always an awesome feeling! I love you honey!

Derek wasn't overjoyed to see me... more like, "Oh hey, you're here too." He wanted me to see his new Lightning McQueen boots that Nana (my mom) had gotten for him. He LOVES those boots. I had a hard time convincing him to wear normal shoes to church today! I love how he can slip them off and on by himself, even if he's still struggling with left shoe-left foot, right shoe-right foot.

Unfortunately, the only pictures I got were from the park excursion while we were waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. I was sequestered upstairs in the bathroom for much of the night paying homage to the porcelain god. Ugh. We had a lot of fun at the park though!

Tickling Aunt Amy - he says "tick-a-tick-a-tick!" while he tickles you

He loves slides. He doesn't want to do anything else at the park until he's gone down the slide.

Aunt Bella teaching him how to go down face first

He needed Nana's help jumping off the end of the slide at first (both hands)

Then he only needed one hand...

Then it was leap...

...after leap!
Derek did pretty well with these little half hoop steps

But he insisted on climbing through these much bigger metal hoops, so Nana and Aunt Bella (Kelly) helped

Derek was having a blast!

My wacky sisters

The start of it all...

Amy was having fun

Valerie had the right idea

Amy was quite proficient after a few tries

And then Derek joined the fun

He jumped about 3 inches off the ground and slide down on his own

Aunt Val gave him a boost and he wasn't too thrilled with the new vantage point

He slid down all by himself though!

So proud of himself

Kelly gets some coaching from Val

Her hands hurt after sliding down the pole

My mom slid down too

Like I said, my sisters are wacky. Amy insisted I get a video of her roundoff

Brain dump!!

Not much out of the ordinary the past few weeks. Derek has been as cute as ever, morning sickness has kicked in with a vengeance and Mitchell has been excelling at work. He sure does love his job. It's been a little difficult to become accustomed to working behind a desk with unfamiliar software and unfamiliar tasks, but he's adjusting very quickly. His manager is fantastically hands-off but very easy to approach with questions and his team members are all compatible. We are so very blessed to have found this job!

These are just a collection of fun moments from the past few weeks. Enjoy!

Waking up happy

Derek has almost perfected the "facebook profile pic" shot

He sure does like using that camera. I'm sure he'll be asking for one from Santa soon.

Derek loves to play with Mitchell's Warhammer 40K figures, but Mitchell isn't as enthusiastic, so we bought Derek a couple of bags of Army men from the dollar store.

That was a pretty good idea if I do say so myself. ;)

No idea where he picked these sound effects up, but it sure was fun to watch him play

I also found these little plastic pill things that disintegrate in water and release little foam animals. I used to love these as a kid! Not disintegrating as fast as I remember, though.

See? Foam animals! And they're cheap, so Derek can rip them up and be as rough as he wants.

Derek hasn't been too interested in coloring anything, even in nursery, so I bought him a dinosaur coloring book (thinking that he'd color something he liked).

Worked like a charm! This kid and dinosaurs... match made in heaven. Maybe he'll be a paleontologist.

Derek likes to exercise with us
